Auf der QuiltCon dieses Jahr in Pasadena kaufte mir mein Mann drei dieser X-Blocks Lineale. Ich hatte mir den Stand und die Quilts auf dem Messestand dort zwar angeschaut, mir dann aber gedacht, hmm, ich weiß noch nicht so recht. Na ja jedenfalls hat er mir, während ich beim Workshop war ein Set dieser X-Blocks-Lineale gekauft. Das System ist garnicht so dumm. Ausgehend von einem dreier Streifenset oder einem traditionellen Nine-Patch Block kann man damit wirklich kompliziert aussehende Quilts nähen, die es wirklich in sich haben. Ich habe das 7,5 Inch Set. Das bedeutet, ein großes Lineal für große 7,5 Inch Blöcke, ein Mini, neben das man ohne Abschnitte den großen 7,5 Inch Block legen kann und den Bellybutton, der in die Mitte des 7,5 Inch Lineals reinpasst.
Das einzig doofe ist nur, ein Buch mit Anleitungen und Stoffangaben zu diesen Linealen wäre nicht schlecht gewesen, aber das hat er leider nicht mit gekauft. Gut bei jedem der Lineale ist eine kurze Anleitung dabei, aber so ein Buch mit den etwas komplizierteren Anleitungen wäre schon nicht schlecht gewesen. Vielleicht kann ich es ja noch online bestellen.
This year, at quiltcon in pasadena my husband bought me three of those x-blocks rulers. I did looked at the booth of them on the show but I wasn`t quite sure if I really want them. During the time I was at the workshop, my husband ought these rulers.
They have a really clever system. Starting with a strip set with three strips or a traditional nine-patch you can make really beautiful quilts and great patterns that looks really hard. I have the 7,5 inch set with the big ruler for a big 7,5 inch block, the mini ruler that fits into the big ruler when you make four of the blocks and the belly button that fits right into the center of the big one.
The only bad thing is that my husband didn`t bought a book going with the rulers. Having all the information for fabric requirements and cutting directions it would be easier to sew a bigger quilt with a hard pattern. I know, every ruler has a small own pattern to go with, but only for the simple stuff. Maybe I can order it online somewhere.
Es macht jedenfalls echt Spaß, wenn man dann aus den Blöcken ein cooles Muster zaubern kann. Noch ein Bonus bei diesen Linealen: Die Abschnitte, die man von den Quadraten macht und die schrägen Quadrate zu erhalten kann man für weitere Quilts oder Rahmen verwenden. Man hat also keinen Stoffabfall, während man diesen Quilt näht, denn jedes Stück kann weiter verwendet werden.
It is really fun when you layout the blocks and see the pattern working together. Another bonus with these tools - there is no waist. You can use the long triangles from the cutting for boarders or other quilts, so save them. No waist with these patterns.
Ich werde jetzt überlegen, wie ich das Quilten kann und dann schaue ich weiter.
