Welcome Baby - Another Baby Quilt

During our vacation in New Zealand the family growed at home. My sister in law has a little girls now. We needed another baby quilt. My husband is going to be an uncle for the first time and he decided - this time he will help sewing.
Together we decided on what fabrics we will use for this quilt and then we startet sewing.

I moved my loved Bernina into the kitchen - there is more room than in my little sewing room. After a short how-to we started sewing. I just pinned the pieces together while he was sitting there and sewed the pieces together. After two afternoons of sewing the quilttop was done.

For the quilting I drove up to Coburg to Regina Klaus. I love longarmquilting. After a piece for practicing I decided on a pattern. And off we go. Since you have startet, longarmquilting is really  fast. Especially with an allover pattern. That is really relaxing.

The quilting was finished real quick. I just needed to prepare the binding and - I made a mistake with the width of the bindingstrips. I couldn`t sew it on by mashine. And after many trys - and I didn`t wanted to ripp of the whole binding again - I attached the Binding by hand. My little new niece has the first quilt with an handstitched binding I made.

And as a november kid - some hats and shawls will be needed, too. I looked through my leftovers and made these little Sets. All the shawls sewn with white, cozy fleece, also the blue hat and for the greywhite hat I used super soft jersy.

When you are looking for a cute and easy pattern for these little hats - look over at Ronjas Blog Lybstes she has some cute little baby sets and freebooks on her blog. (in German).
