Bernina Medaillon QAL, Longarmquilting und die Patchworktage in Fürth

Ich habe viel gemacht in der letzten Zeit. Nur leider, wie so oft, arbeite ich hauptsächlich an Geschenken und die kann ich leider erst zeigen, wenn sie wirklich verschenkt wurden. Also kann ich euch heute garnicht so viel fertiges zeigen.

Dafür habe ich gestern die ca. 540 Teile des Bernina Medaillon Quilts Runde vier zugeschnitten. Ich glaube ich habe drei Stunden lang gemessen und geschnippelt. Am Ende war ich fertig und dann kam natürlich die Frage von meinem Schatz - wolltest du nicht nähen. Jaaaaa, wollte ich, aaaaber ich musste ja erst schneiden.

Dafür kann ich jetzt dann beim nächsten Nähabend mich mit Genuss hinsetzen und nähen, nähen und nähen. So ist das manchmal.

I sewed a lot in the last few weeks. But sadly, I can not show anything of it, because I made many presents and I need to gift them first. Usual business here. So nothing finished to show. 

But I cut about all 540 pieces for the forth row of my Bernina Medaillon Quilt. I think I meassured and cut about three hours. In the end, I finished my day work and then my hubs asked - I thought you were sewing?. Yeahhhh, I wanted to buuuuuut I needed to cut first.

That`s it sometimes but I am finished for the next sewing eve and I can start immediatly with smooth sewing.

Ich war am Himmelfahrtsfeiertag bei Regina Klaus. Zum Longarmquilten. Ich hatte zwei Quilts dabei, einmal das Hogwardsquilttop, das nun fertig gequiltet und geschnitten über der Tür hängt und auf ein Binding wartet und ein anderes, das darf ich euch noch nicht verraten.

Longarmquilting ist genial. Wer hier meinen Blog verfolgt, der weiß das und ich bin ein großer Fan der Bernina Q24. Wenn ich so einen Quilt, wie das Hogwardsquilttop zu Hause quilten würde - durchaus machbar, aber nicht besonders spaßig - so würde ich mehr als die doppelte Zeit brauchen und wäre danach fix und fertig.

Thursday was a holiday and I drove up to Regina Klaus. For Longarm quilting. I took two quilts with me, One was my finished hogwardstop and the other one is a secret.

I love longarm quilting. The ones who follow my blog know, that I am a big fan of the Bernina Q24. Quilting a quilt like the hogwards quilt at home on my Bernina 350 PE can be done, but for me, it is no fun. I would need more than twice the time and I would be done after that. Tired done.
 

Natürlich komme ich auch bei meinem Monsterprojekt mit den Hexagons weiter. Inzwischen reist meine Sew Together Bag, prall gefüllt mit Hexagonen mit mir täglich zu Arbeit und zurück. 50 Minuten im Zug muss man nutzen und zwar effektiv :-) 2 Blumen sind schon fertig, die dritte fast und Hintergrundteile für vier auch schon vorbereitet.

Sure I continue working on my monster project with my hexagons. At the moment my ready to go Sew together bag Is travelling with me to work and back again. 50 minutes need to be filled with something that makes sensce. Two big flowers are done, the third one nearly finished and the background for the fourth one is prepared.

Mal ein Blick in meinen Stoffschrank. Ziemlich voll, das stimmt. Und dabei habe ich dieses Jahr schon ordentlich viel genäht. Vorallem der Bernina Medaillon Quilt ist ausschließlich mit Stoffen aus diesem Regal gemacht. Aber irgendwie wird es nicht weniger und das könnte am letzten Messebesuch liegen. Und da komme ich auch gleich schon zu morgen - In Fürth finden dieses Jahr die Patchworktage der Patchworkgilde statt. Ich bin auch das ganze Wochenende dort. Ihr findet mich bei Bernina und bei der Bernina Longarm Ausstellung. Kommt doch mal vorbei und sagt Hallo, ich freue mich:-)

And at least, a view in one of my fabric closets. This one is really full. And I did sew a lot this year compared to last year, especially the Bernina Medaillon Quilt is made with scraps from this stash. But somehow It wont get less fabric, there could be a reason - the last convention maybe. And there is my last point for today: tomorrow until sunday there are the patchworkday in Fürth. I am there with the Bernina Longarm and the Bernina Longarm exhebition as an assistant. Come on over and say hello, I would like to meet you:-)

Karottenkuchen, Quilts und Hexagons - Carrotcake, quilts and hexagons

 

Ich habe ein neues Lieblingskuchen-Rezept: Karottenkuchen mit Frischkäsetopping. Der ist wirklich sehr lecker. Rezept habe ich von Chefkoch.de. Einfach hier klicken und schnell selber backen.
Aber ich habe in letzter Zeit eher selten Zeit Kuchen zu backen. Meist brauche ich dazu eh mehrere Mitesser, da mein Mann und ich alleine so einen Kuchen niemals essen würden. Also biete ich oft bei Geburtstagen oder Feiern an, einen Kuchen mitzubringen und das wird gerne angenommen.

I have a new favorite recipe for cakes: Carrots cake with creamcheese topping. This one is really tasty. I found the recipe at chefkoch.de. Just klick here and try it out.
But in the last few weeks I didn`t had that much time to bake a lot. Most of the time I need some more people to eat all that stuff because it is too much for my husband and myself. So, I like to offer a cake or cookies for birthdays and parties to bring with - and my friends appreciate that.

Wer mir auf Instagram folgt, der hat dieses Bild sicher schon gesehen. Ich habe bei einem meiner Medaillons endlich die dritte Runde fertig. Aber die vierte Runde ist auch schon raus, jetzt muss ich mich mal ranhalten, dass ich da noch Schritt halten kann.
Der zweite Medaillon ist grade mit Runde drei in Arbeit. Diese Zeit- und Stoffsparende Variante mit den Flying Geese ist wirklich cool. Normalerweise hatte ich nach einer Flying Geese Session sehr sehr viele kleine HST (Halfsquare Triangles) übrig. Aus denen wurden dann meist Taschen und andere Acessoires. Das hab ich diesmal nicht. Auch schön.

Who follows me on Instagram, he could have seen that pic already. I finally finished my third border of one my medaillon, but the fourth one is already on the go so I need to hurry up a little bit to keep pace with it. The second medaillon border three is in work. I like this time and fabric saving methode to sew flying geese. Normally I got a lot of leftover HSTs. I made a lot of bags and other acessoirs with them but not this time. Nice, too. 

Natürlich arbeite ich auch im Moment mit Hochdruck an meinem Hexagonquilt "La Passion". Hier habe ich nun endlich alle sechs Rauten mit den Blumen umrahmt. Und es geht auch gleich weiter mit den sechs großen Blumen. Ich will die große Sternenrunde nämlich bis zu den Sommerferien gerne abschließen. Bin schon ganz gespannt, wie das dann so im ganzen wieder aussieht. Bis jetzt bin ich schon ganz gespannt.

Ansonsten habe ich grade einige Quilts und andere schöne Sachen fertig genäht, die ich nur leider noch nicht zeigen kann, da die Beschenkten dies vielleicht vorher sehen. Das wäre doch schade.

Of course I am working on my hexagonquilt La Passion, too. I just finished the surrounding flowers of the six diamonds of the big round. And I am off to start with the big flowers. I want to finish this round until the sommer break and I am excited how this will look like. 

By the way, I have some more quilts finished, but I can`t show them until I gave it to the people as a gift. I don`t want to tell the surprise, right:-)

Die Nadelwelt 2017

Quilt "Wir tanzen alle um dieselbe Sonne", von Dörte-Ina Liebing

Heute ging es früh los. Eigentlich überhaupt nicht mein Ding. Sonntag Morgens um halb sieben aufzustehen, zu duschen, frühstücken und losgehen. Echt nicht. Ich bin der klassische Morgenmuffel. Aber heute, heute war ich sogar schon vor dem Weckerklingeln wach und das nach nur 5 Stunden Schlaf. Heute bin ich zur Nadelwelt gefahren. Eine große Messe rund ums Thema Handarbeiten in Karlsruhe. Von sticken, stricken, häkeln und natürlich nähen und quilten - die Nadelwelt stand schon länger mal auf meinem Programm. Bis jetzt habe ich es nur noch nicht dorthin geschafft, denn allein schon die Anfahrt ist wirklich lang. Ich fahre mindestens zweieinhalb Stunden und die muss man ja auch wieder zurück fahren. Zum Glück hat mich mein Mann begleitet, so wurde die lange Autofahrt bei furchtbaren Regenwetter garnicht so schlimm.

Bei der Nadelwelt angekommen sind wir zuerst mal durch die zahlreichen Ausstellungen gegangen. Meine Favoriten habe ich euch fotografiert. Der blaue Quilt mit der Sonne oben von Dörte-Ina Liebing hat sowohl mir, als auch meinem Mann am Besten gefallen. Superschön gearbeitet, ein schönes Stück.

Today we started early in the morning. Nothing that I like. Getting up on half past 6 in the morning, taking a shower, having breakfirst and start right after on a sunday morning - Not really my favorite. But today I woke up before the clock startet to shout. I went to the Nadelwelt convention. A big international convention in Karlsruhe. This convention is all about embroidery,knitting, crocheting, and for sure sewing and quilting. That event was on my list for a long long time. And today - I went. It is a realy long drive to get there - it takes about minimum two and a half hour to get there and I need to drive back afterwards. Luckily for me my husband joined me and the long drive wasn`t to hard during the really rainy weather today.

Arriving at the convention - we started with the exhibitions they showed. I took some pictures of my favorites to show you. The blue quilt on the top here - made by Dörte-Ina Liebing - is mine and also my husbands favorite piece.

Quilt "Yellow Submarine", von Gabriele Schultz-Herzberger (Network Quilters).

Ebenso dieser hier. Hier fand ich vorallem das einfache Kreisförmige Quilting klasse. Das gab dem Quilt ein gewisses Etwas.

Also this one. I specially liked the round quilting of it. It gives something special to the quilt.
 

BERNINA "Red and White", Quilt "Marina`s Red & White Star", von Marina Strasser.

Auch die Ausstellung vom "Red and White" Wettbewerb auf dem BERNINA Blog war mit einigen Quilts zu sehen. Solch einfarbige Quilts haben so ihren eigenen Charme.

They also showed some quilts of the "Red and White" exhibition of the BERNINA Blog. I loke the very special charm of those unicolored quilts.

BERNINA "Red and White", Quilt "Rot-Weiss-Traum", von Snjezana Strickler.

Dieser psychodelische Quilt (Ich finde er bewegt sich, wenn man ihn zu lange anschaut) hat durch seine Art und Weiße wie er konstruiert ist eine Bewegung inne, so wie diese schwarz-weißen Scheiben früher auf dem Spielplatz. Hat man die dann noch gedreht, wurde einem sehr schnell schwindelig. Dieser Quilt ist wunderschön verarbeitet. Aber lange anschauen konnte ich ihn jedoch nicht.

This psychodelic quilt (I think he moves when you look to much on it) has a lot of movement with the way he has been constructed. Great work and really beautiful - but I can`t watch it too long.
 

BERNINA "Red and White", Quilt "Because of Love", von Ewa Stieglauer.

Der letzte Quilt, den ich euch aus der "Red and White" Ausstellung zeige ist dieser schöne perfekte Feathered Star mit sehr einfachen Boarders außenrum, aber einem wunderschönen, hammermäßigen Freihandquilting. Wow.

And the last one I want to show you from the "Red and White" exhibition is this beautiful feathered star boardered with very simple strips but a striking gorgeous freemotionquilting on it. Wow.

Schirmgestaltung "Ur-Laub", von Inge Barth.

Dieser witzige Schirm mit dem passenden Titel "Ur-Laub" stand ebenfalls in einer der Ausstellungen auf der Nadelwelt. Superschöne Stoffe und toll verarbeitet.

This funny umbrella was also in a exhibition and I absolutly loved the look. Great Work and great fabrics.

Der Baumquilt hier hing nicht in einer Ausstellung, er hing bei einem Aussteller - leider weiß ich nicht mehr bei welchen, da auch kein Titel und kein Erschaffer daneben hing. Die Bäume in der Mitte sind ein Panel, das mit Boarders ähnlich wie ein Medallion umrandet wurden. Das Besondere hier ist das Quilting: Der gesamte Baum, jeder Ast, der Stamm und jeder Zweig wurde beim Quilten mit einer Naht betont. Sehr einfach aber wahnsinnig wirksam. Toll.

This treequilt wasn`t in an exhibition - it hang in a both - I am really sorry, I didn`t noticed which booth it was and there wasn`t a titel or a creator named next to it. The tree in the middle is a panel that has been surrounded with boarders like a medaillon. The special thing here is the quilting: The whole tree in the panel, every branch and arm was accuratly surrounded with stitches. Very simply but with a striking effect. Great.

Zu guter Letzt - ich kann ja nicht auf eine Messe fahren ohne einzukaufen - hier meine Beute. Ich habe heute auch endlich mal Grete von Stoffsalat kennengelernt. Wir hatten ja schon die ein oder andere Mail ausgetauscht und auch schon ein paar Mal telefoniert, so war es sehr nett, Dich mal persönlich zu treffen. Und bei der Gelegenheit habe ich mir sogleich mal das Soft and Stable genauer angeschaut und mal eine Packung mitgenommen - Jetzt werden wieder ein paar Taschen genäht:-)

Bei BERNINA habe ich Regina mit ihrer Longarm getroffen, hier könnte ich stundenlang zuschauen, wie die Maschine summt und näht und ganz einfach tolle Motive auf den Stoff zaubert.

Mir hat die Messe sehr gut gefallen, ich habe einige tolle Quilts gesehen - wo ist denn nur die Zeit, Zeit zum nähen - und es war ein sehr schöner Tag. Die Nadelwelt war einen Besuch wert, ich freue mich schon aufs nächste Jahr und sicher werde ich mal wieder vorbeischauen.

And at least - no one can go to a convention without buying anything - here is my stuff. Finally I could meet Grete of Stoffsalat (A german fabric store) We already shared some mails and phonecalls and I am happy to meet you in person. And with this chance I took a look onto the soft and stable which is often used for bagmaking and I took a packet for me - Time to sew some bags, soon.

At the BERNINA booth I met Regina with her longarm. I can stand there forever and watch the longarm sewing and hear the sound. Great.

I really enjoyed my visit - I sa many great quilts and quilting ideas - where is the time, the time to sew - and it was a beautiful day. The Nadelwelt is worth to visit and I am looking forward for next year.

Hogwarts Quilt Top - Wie nähe ich Crazy Patchwork - How to sew crazy Patchwork

Ich mag bunte Quilt. Aber das wisst ihr ja. Bei meinem neuen Projekt habe ich aus allen Farbpaletten Stoffe gezogen. Herrlich, wie ein kleiner Regenbogen sieht das aus. Aus diesem Stapel entsteht ein bunter Quilt. Ein Themenquilt - Das Thema: Hogwarts.

I like colorful quilts. But you know that, right? With my new project, I pulled fabric from all kinde of colors. It looks like a small rainbow. With this stash of fabric I will make a themed quilt - a Hogwarts Quilt.

So sieht er fertig aus. Ein Quilt in der Größe 1,60 m x 2,20 m (Ich denke das dürfte Throwsize sein)
Es hat Spaß gemacht, dieses crazy Patchwork zu nähen. Ich habe den Quilt in vier Teilen zusammen genäht, dann erst habe ich das schwarte Logo eingesetzt.

That is ho the finished top looks like. It is about a Throwsize (63 x 84 inches). It was fun to sew this crazy patchwork. I assembled this quilt in four parts and then I added the black emblem.

Griffindor section

Wenn man so ein Crazy Patchwork näht, dann kann man nicht immer gleiche Blöcke nehmen und diese brav in Reihen anordnen. Der Trick hierbei ist, erst alle Teile auszulegen und dann anfangen, sich seinen Weg zu nähen. Eine wirkliche Anleitung gibt es hierzu nicht.

Sewing such a crazy patchwork is not just working with blocks, sew them into rows and assemble the rows. The trick is to layout all your pieces first and then start to sew your way through it. There isn`t a real pattern for it.

Slytherin section

Man schaut sich das Muster an und versucht dann möglichst viele Teile zusammen zu nähen, ehe man sie als Ganzes in Reihen oder Blöcken zusammen setzt.

Take a look at your layout and try to sew together as much as possible until you sew everything to finish this section.

Hufflepuff section

Hier kann man sehr gut sehen, was ich meine. Beim blauen Part von unten betrachtet, kann ich die erste Reihe nicht zusammen nähen, da ich ein größeres Quadrat dabei habe. Aber die zwei untersten Reihen kann ich auch nicht zusammen nähen, da in der zweiten und dritten Reihe wieder ein großes Quadrat liegt.
So nähe ich es zusammen:


Here looking at the blue one you can see what I mean. Looking on the three rows at the bottom - I can`t join the first row because of the big square in row one and two. But I can`t join row two either, because of the big square of row two and three. Thats The way to assemble it:

Zuerst die drei mittelgroßen Teile links zu einer Reihe (Teil 1), dann das Große mit dem mittelgroßen und dem Fourpatch (Teil 2), dann das nächste Große und die beiden mittelgroßen Teile (Teil 3) und als letzter Bestandteil den Ninepatch links (Teil4). Wenn alle vier Teile in der gleichen Höhe zusammen passen, dann kann ich die untersten drei Reihen als komplette Reihe zusammen nähen.

First, sew the three middle squares on the left to one row (part 1), then sew the big one with the middle one and the small fourpatch as a block (part 2), then do the same with the next big one and the two middle squares (part 3) and in the end sew the ninepatch together (part 4). After finishing all four parts you can start to join the row together.

Ravenclaw section

So verfahre ich mit allen Teilen. Die Teile, die am schwarzen Quadrat dran sind, lasse ich noch extra, diese werden anschließend mit dem schwarzen Quadrat als Reihe zusammen genäht und dann der Rest des Quilts zusammen genäht.

Crazy Patchwork macht immer Spaß, man ist frei und kann tun was man will und es kommt auch immer etwas schönes dabei raus. Das gefällt mir sehr.

Thats the way I make all my sections. I took the four parts to the side witch meet right next to the black square in the middle. They will be joined as a row before I assemble the whole quilttop.

I loved doing this crazy patchwork, you are free and can do whatever you want and there will always be a nice finish in the end. I like that.
