Viel Genäht, kann aber nix fertiges zeigen - I sewed a lot, but I cant show finished stuff

Ich habe in letzter Zeit wirklich viel genäht. Turbomäßig genäht, denn es galt ein paar "Deadlines" einzuhalten. Auf der einen Seite steht unsere große Reise nach Neuseeland vor der Tür und 30, ja - ihr habt richtig gelesen - 30 Stunden einfache Reisezeit müssen vorbereitet werden und auf der anderen Seite musste ich meine 24 Geschenke für den Quiltersadventcalendar- Swap rechtzeitig vorbereiten, damit diese auch pünktlich vor dem Urlaub beim Host ankommen. Dazu kommt noch ein Babygeschenk für meine Schwägerin, die bald Termin hat und welches noch nicht fertig ist.

I really sewed a lot in the last few days. Like a turbomashine - I needed to be finished for some "deadlines". On one side our big trip to New Zealand is getting close and 30 - yes, you heard me - 30 hours of travelling needed to be prepared wisely and on the other side 24 presents for the quiltersadventcalendar-swap needed to be prepared and send on time. And on top I needed to prepare a baby gift for my sister in law. 

Aber eines nach dem anderen. Wie ich bereits sagte, 30 Stunden Reisezeit wollen sinnvoll genutzt werden und so habe ich in den letzten Wochen im Zug auf der Fahrt zur Arbeit jede Menge Hexagons vorbereitet. Genau genommen ca. 1.500 Stück. Lila, Blau und Grün, die drei Farben wollen vernäht werden, das ist meine Tätigkeit im Flieger. Bei den letzten großen Flugreisen gab es keine Probleme beim Mitnehmen meiner Nähutensilien (Nähnadel, Faden und Stoff). Ich musste lediglich die Schere mit einem Nagelknipser ersetzen, damit ich den Faden abschneiden kann und alles geht durch die Sicherheitskontrolle.

But one thing after the other. As I said - 30 hours of travelling will be used nicely and so I prepared many hexagons in the last few weeks on my way to work in the train. Exactly 1500 hexagons. Purple, blue and green needed to be sewn together now and that is what I do during this long flight. I didn`t had problems with bringing my handsewingstuff (handneedle, thread and fabric) onto the plane. I just had to replace the sciccor with a nailclipper to cut my threats and everything went through security.

Während mein Mann schon gepackt hat, starrt mich mein leerer Koffer noch vorwurfvoll an. Ja, heute Abend wird gepackt, versprochen. Kleidung und Ausrüstung für einen Urlaub im Frühsommer mit mehrtägiger Wanderung durch das neuseeländische Gebirge wollen in diesen Koffer. Die Wanderschuhe werde ich wohl gleich im Flugzeug tragen, dann habe ich mehr Platz im Koffer.  30 Kilo darf ich mitnehmen, bisher habe ich in meinen Koffer jedoch maximal 20 Kilo reingekriegt, eher er fast geplatzt ist. Also eher kein Problem mit Übergewicht diesmal. Aber hoffentlich habe ich dann auch alles.

My suitcase I stairing at me really seriously while my husband has already finished packing. Yes, this evening I will pack, I promise. Clothes and equipment for a vacation in early summer with a four days hike through the mountains will be packed in this suitcase. I guess I will put my hiking shoes on during the flights to have more space in my case. I can take 30 kilogram but I guess I will end up with 20 in this suitcase until it will explode. So no problems with overweight this time. But I hope I won`t forget anything.

Die Geschenke für den Quiltersadventcalendar-Swap sind bereits verschickt und auch beim Host angekommen, ich bin ja schon so gespannt, was ich zurück bekomme:-) Auf Instagram könnt ihr unter dem Hashtag #quiltersadventcalendar sehen, was die anderen so nähen. Natürlich keine fertigen Sachen, denn wir wollen uns ja überraschen.

Genäht wird natürlich heute Abend auch, gleich nachdem ich gepackt habe, ich verspreche es.
Wer will, der kann auch mal einen Blick auf Instagram werfen, dort zeige ich immer wieder kleine Stories von den Sachen, an denen ich aktuell arbeite.

Und nun gehts gleich wieder zum Trockner, Wäsche zusammenlegen und dann endlich - Koffer packen. Schuhe sind bereits geputzt, denn Neuseeland duldet keine dreckigen Schuhe:-)

And now - off to the dryer, get all my clothes ready and then finally - packing. I already cleaned my shoes - New Zealand is really strict and does not allow dirty shoes.

Fertiges Quilttop - Finished Quilttop Bernina Medaillon Quilt Along

Da ist er, das gute Stück - mein Bernina Medaillon Quilt. Mein erster Medaillon, den ich nähe. Ich muss sagen, ich konnte mir die Größe erst garnicht so wirklich vorstellen. Mein Medaillon ist etwas Größer als das Original, ich habe auch die Herringbone Runde etwas anders gestaltet und irgendwie ist die größer geworden. Jedenfalls haben wir hier ca. 190 cm im Quadrat hängen. Nachdem ich in der Wohnung keinen passenden Platz habe, der so viel Raum hergibt, habe ich kurzerhand meine Balkontürvorhänge als "DesignWall" umfunktioniert. So konnte ich den Medaillon super fotografieren.

Here it is, my beauty - my bernina medaillon quilt. My first medaillon I made. I have to admit, that I couldn`t imagine the big size of this quilt. My Medaillon is a little bigger than the original but I changed the setting of my herringbone round a bit and this was getting a little too big. I am having about 75 inches in a square. I didn`t had enough space in my flat to make good pictures so I decided to close my curtains in front of the door to the balkony and made it into a "designwall". That way I could make good fotos.

Ein paar Eckdaten zu meinem Medaillon:
Ich habe nur den weißen Hintergrundstoff eingekauft. Alle anderen Farben und Stoffe habe ich aus Stoffresten und meinem Vorrat genommen. Das war meine Task für dieses Projekt, mein Auftrag war Stoff verbrauchen. Ich muss ehrlich sagen, dass ich selbst immer wieder überrascht bin, dass ich doch so wahnsinnig viele Stoffe und vorallem auch verschiedene Stoffe zu Hause habe. Kein einziger farbiger Stoff wurde gekauft. Dafür habe ich jetzt gefühlt noch mehr Reste - aber ihr wisst, kein Rest wird zurückgelassen:-)

Some dates to my medaillon: I only bought the white backgroundfabric for this quilt. All the colors and fabrics were taken from my stash. That was my task for this quilt - use up scraps and fabric from the stash. I really am surprised how much fabric I have in my stash. So much variety and diffrent prints and fabrics. No faric was bought for this. But now I have more leftovers than before. But as you know - no scrap is left behind.

Hier seht ihr noch eine Detailansicht der dritten bis fünften Runde. Grade die No-Waste (Kein Rest) Methode bei den Dreiecken hat mir gut gefallen. Klasse.

Dieses Top wandert jetzt noch auf den Bernina Blog zur Verlosung. Vielleicht gewinne ich auch mal was. Ansonsten kommt dann im Dezember der größte Gewinn: Ich werde dieses Baby auf der Longarm quilten. Und das wird sicher eine Mischung aus freiem Quilten und Ruler-Work (Arbeit mit Linealen). Da freue ich mich jetzt schon.

Here is another detail picture of the third to the fith round. Especially the "No-Waste" methode was great with those Flying gees. Great.

This top will be pubished on the Bernina Blog now, maybe I can win a prize this time:-) And even if not - there is the biggest win in december: I will quilt that on the longarm. And I will make detailwork with a mixture of ruler work and free motion quilting. I am getting excited for this.
