Om - eine Tasche fürs Yoga, a bag for yoga

Eine kleine Tasche für eine große Reise. Hier passt alles rein, was Frau so braucht. Schminksachen, Hygieneartikel, Medikamente oder einfach nur die diversen Cremedöschen, die Frau so mitnimmt.
Die Tasche hat einen Boden aus einer alten Jeanshose und den weißen Körper aus schönen Canvas Stoff genäht. Das Om-Zeichen habe ich aus dem Internet abgemalt, dann die Schablone ausgeschnitten und mit einem, etwas feineren Zickzackstich appliziert. Innen ist die Tasche mit Thermolan ausgefüttert - Jeans und Canvas sind ja schon stabiler, mit dem Thermolan hat man eine gute Formstabile Tasche. Für das Innenfutter habe ich ein dunkles Taschenfutter genommen.

A small Bag for big travelplans. Everything a woman needs fits in here. Cosmetics, Hygene stuff, medical stuff or just this or that parfume or creme a woman will need on her way. The bottom of the bag is made of an old Jeans and the white part is a nice piece of canvas. I did a raw edge appliqué on the on sign, which I draw after a picture in the internet. I made myself a pattern cut it out and used a nice zigzag stitch to stitch it down. I basted the bag with Thermolan. I didn't want to use soft and stable because jeans and canvas already have a good stand and I just wanted to add a bit more, perfect for Thermolan. For the lining I used a nice lining fabric I had here.

Diese Tasche reist nun nach Indien zu einem vierwöchigen Yogaworkshop und anschließend nach Thailand. Ich bin gespannt, wie die Tasche danach aussieht. Durch das Raw Edge Appliqué (offene Kanten appliziert) können die Ränder des Om noch etwas ausfranzen, das gibt einen schönen used-look.

So zweifarbig ist eher ungewöhnlich für mich, ich weiß, aber ich dachte, grell bunt passt hier auch nicht. Vielleicht mache ich noch ein paar weitere ein- oder zweifarbige Taschen. Das hat jedenfalls Spaß gemacht und mit dem Raw Edge Appliqué freunde ich mich inzwischen immer mehr an.

This bag goes out for big travel plans, first for four weeks to yoga in India and then off to thailand. I am very excited how this bag looks after being used. With the raw edge appliqué the open edges ripped off a bit for a nice used look. 

Two colour way is not my common thing, usually I go with bold colours but I thought this has to be nice and straight. Maybe I will sew some more bags like this with one or two colors. It was fun and I think raw edge appliqué and I can become friends sometime. 

Kissen und Deko - pillows and decoration

Wie ich euch im vorletzten Post mit dem Kissen aus lauter bunten Quadraten hier erzählt habe, möchte mein Mann mehr Kissen, die wir entsprechend der Jahreszeiten über unsere sonst grünen Kissen ziehen können. Letztes Jahr habe ich diesen süßen kleinen Osterhasen-Tischläufer auf Instagram gesehen und mir selbst einen gemacht. Dabei ist mir irgendwie entgangen, dass es dazu sogar ein Tutorial von der lieben Kristina von CenterStreetQuilts auf dem Moda Blog gibt. Dieses Jahr habe ich ihren Post gesehen und sie hat sogar ein weiteres Add on dazu gepostet: eine kleine Karotte. Und mit diesem Post fand ich heraus, dass sie ein Tutorial geschrieben hat. So geht es manchmal. Jedenfalls habe ich mich letzte Woche Sonntag Abend hingesetzt und diese zwei kleinen Osterhasenkissen gepatcht.

As I told you in my post with the square cushion my husband wanted to have some more pillowcases for different themes during the year. Last year I saw this cute little tablerunner on Instagram and made one for myself. I didn't noticed that there is a tutorial on the blog of the Moda bake shop. This year Kristina of centerstreetquilts posted another tutorial add for this runner and with this post I found the tutorial. That's how it goes sometimes. Sunday eve I sat down and made these cute little bunnies to become some easter pillowcases.

Hier ein kleines Teiltutorial, wie ich die Kissen zusammengesetzt habe. Ich habe hier eine 0,25 inch Nahtzugabe.

Pro Kissen (40*40 cm fertig) braucht ihr:
- die Aneitung von CenterStreenQuilts für die Hasen (Ich habe die Größe der Hasen gleich gelassen, habe jedoch die Quadratgröße für die Abnäher des Körpers und der Ohren von 1,25 inch auf 1,5 inch geändert. So werden die Ohren etwas spitzer, nicht so abgerundet. Das ist total Geschmacksache.)
- 2 x 1 inch breite Sashingstreifen (zwischen den Hasen)
- 2 x 5*6,5 inch Rechtecke um die Hasen versetzt auf dem Quadrat anzuordnen
- 1 x 5*3,25 inch für den mittleren Hasen
- 2,5 Inch breite Streifen für den Rand des Kissens

I wrote you a little tutorial about how I made these cussions (15,5 inches finished). I use a quarter inch seam allowance.

For each pillow you need:
- the tutorial of CenterStreetQuilts for the bunnies (I took the size of the bunny's of her tutorial but I changed the size of the squares because I wanted the ears to be more on point. So insteat of 1,25 inch I use 1,5 inch squares to snowball my body's and ears of the bunny.)
- 2 times a 1 inch sashingstrip (between the bunnies)
- 2 x 5*6,5 inch rectangles to offset the bunnies
- 1 x 5*3,25 inch for the center bunny
- 2,5 inch strips for the borders.

Zuerst näht ihr die Hasen und setzt eure drei Reihen zusammen. Dann wird das Sashing zwischen die Hasen angenäht, wie es im Bild obe gezeigt wird. Anschließend schneidet ihr das ganze auf ein 16,5 inch Quadrat zurecht. Die Reihenzusätze haben etwas Spielraum, damit ihr alles zusammennähen könnt.
 
First, make your bunnys and assemble the three rows. Then add the sashing in between as you can see in the picture above. Then trimm the sashing and overlaping rows to a square and add the borders. Trimm your cussion down to an 16,5 inch square.

Bereit zum Quilten. Eines der Tops habe ich mit einem sogenannten "All-Over" Muster gequiltet, das aus Blättern besteht. Gibt einem die Illusion in der Natur zu sein. Das andere habe ich mit einer großen Spirale gequilted, was ich schon immer mal machen wollte. Das macht Spaß, man muss nur aufpassen, sonst wird einem schwindlig.

Time to quilt. One of the pillowtops I quilted with a leavy background to give the illusion of sitting in the woods. The other one I quilted with a big swirl, which I wanted to do for such a long time. It`s fun, but you have to be careful that you don`t get dizzy.

Jetzt nur noch die Rückseiten annähen, ich überlappe hier ganz einfach und nähe in der Mitte ein Stück Klettverschluss dran. Ein erweiterter Hotelverschluss, wenn ihr es so wollt.

Time to add the backing. I overlap the backings a bit and in the middle I cose it with a velcro. 

Ein kleiner Tipp, der ganz dicke Ecken vermeidet: Ich schneide immer die Spitzen ab. Dadurch habe ich beim wenden nicht so viel Fleece und Stoff in einer Ecke und die Ecke kann flach aufliegen.

A little tip to get rid of bulky corners: Trimm down the corners. When turning your mini quilt inside out, you do not have so much fleece and fabric in the corners and the lay flat and nice.
 

Ich mag den Look auf unserer grünen Couch. Das passt sehr gut.
